Nutrigenomics

Nutritional genomics, also known as nutrigenomics, is a field of science that explores the relationship between an individual's genetic makeup and their response to dietary nutrients and diet types. It involves the study of how specific nutrients and bioactive compounds in food interact with an individual's genes, influencing gene expression, and ultimately affecting health outcomes. Nutritional genomics seeks to understand how variations in genetic information can impact an individual's susceptibility to certain diseases, nutrient metabolism, and overall well-being. By examining the interplay between genetics and nutrition, Dr. Orlowski aims to tailor dietary recommendations and interventions to an individual's needs based on their unique genetic profiles, leading to personalized nutrition strategies for optimal health. This emerging field holds the promise of providing insights into personalized approaches to nutrition that can help prevent and manage various health conditions.

In our sessions where we assess your genomic profile, by looking at your specific SNPs (Single nucleotide polymorphism)  and how they may impact your health.  Everyone has different SNPs, and just because you have an SNP, like COMT, MTHFR, FTO, etc, does not mean a recommendation will be made based on that alone.  Dr. Orlowski will take your symptoms, goals, and SNPs all together to come up with a plan that is personalized to you.

How does Dr. Orlowski get my genomic information?

·       You will have already run your genomic data through 23 & me or Ancestry

·       She will provide you with a  link to Pure Genomics ( a site that will analyze your raw data and give her your SNPs.
